A base designed to stay in place

The base with its non-slip area is designed to limit the sharpener's movement on a suitable surface. Its honeycomb structure can help remove some of the residue produced during sharpening. Always place the tool on a dry, stable, and clear work surface.

A 30° angle is indicated for this model. However, follow the knife manufacturer's recommendations and do not force the blade. For serrated, severely damaged, or uniquely profiled knives, check for compatibility before use.

Tips for safe sharpening

Hold the knife according to the manufacturer's instructions and keep your fingers away from the abrasive surface. Perform slow and steady strokes without excessive pressure, then check the result progressively. Never test the sharpness with your finger and keep the sharpener out of reach of children.

Start with the grit suited to the condition of the blade, then use the finer grit if necessary. The result depends on the angle, pressure, number of strokes, and the initial condition of the knife. A sharpener will not repair a cracked or severely deformed blade.

Cleaning and storage

After each use, remove residue with a dry cloth or according to the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid standing water and abrasive products, then store the sharpener in a dry place. Clean and dry the knife as well before storing it.

For specialized blades, scissors, or serrated knives, use only an area intended for that purpose and check the manual. When in doubt, seek the advice of a professional sharpener.
